Contemporary dance, similar to ballet, imparts a foundation in dance (including pliés, tendus and more) plus an integration of body & mind. These are some of our most popular, up-lifting classes for giving the joy and fluidity of Movement. Learn large flowing movements as well as more classical and modern phrases. Contemporary dance develops flexibility, fluidity and musicality.
Dance Theatre of Ireland Co-Artistic Director Loretta Yurick teaches the foundations of Contemporary Dance for Beginners on Thursday nights. Eimear Byrne teaches an Intermediate class building on Contemporary Techniques (Limon, Cunningham, Nikolais, Release, and Ballet) for those with experience on Tuesday nights. The Intermediate class also work on a Dancing Deeper project, collaborating with Eimear to choreograph a piece for performance.
