Since its inception, Dance Theatre of Ireland has exemplified excellence and innovation in choreography, music & design. Featuring the work of its Artistic Directors Robert Connor & Loretta Yurick and distinguished international guest choreographers*, it has developed a reputation for producing dance theatre which is passionate, evocative, sophisticated yet arrestingly pure - exciting dance which is at times both fierce and uplifting.

Dance Theatre of Ireland tours extensively to all major venues in Ireland and Northern Ireland and by invitation to International Festivals and theatres in Europe. Featuring a repertoire rich in collaboration with Irish composers and artists, increasingly, the company works with New Technologies.
Performing with Dance Theatre of Ireland are some of the finest dancers in Ireland, as well as international guests . The Company's work has been described as:

"Stunning" (The Irish Times)

"...exhilarating and thrilling."(The Dublin Event Guide)

"Brilliant. Magnificent. Superb." (The Evening Herald)

"Spare and elegant" (Ballet International)

"real theatrical flair" (Dance Europe)

Dance Theatre of Ireland opened in October 2000 a state of the art Centre for Dance in Dun Laoghaire at Bloomfields. The Centre is the home of the Company and its extensive award-winning Outreach Programme, Dance POP, as well as a diverse programme of dance classes & courses for adults and young people.

Dance Theatre of Ireland's work is supported primarily by The Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaion, with assistance from a wide variety of Irish and International Cultural institutions.
